The DK Tournament was started in 2001 as a memorial for Danny Keenan, a former manager and friend of Perry Golf & Country Club. Danny passed away at a very early age, and the tournament was created by his best friend Mike Dunphy to ensure Danny’s young son was able to achieve a college education. After Connor graduated from college several years later, the extremely popular tournament continued to serve as a catalyst for several charities and golf course projects. The event was administered by various people though out the years, and over the past several years it was run by Steve Wilkening and his family. Mike and Pat Dunphy also continued to help and sponsor many prizes and awards during the 25-year run. Administering a tournament of this scale takes a tremendous amount of time and diligence but benefits our course have received from this tournament made this the largest and most popular event of the year. The DK has ended to make way for future events that will benefit the building of our new clubhouse.
The 27 hole Ryder Cup format tournament was held on July 26th. Ninety-eight golfers competed in over 100° heat index conditions.
