
The late Edward and Wilma Collins were honored at the 12th Annual Memorial Golf Tournament on Sunday, July 6 at Perry Golf & Country Club. Edward died in 1999, while Wilma passed away on Feb. 23 of this year. They were both long-time members of the Perry Golf & Country Club and were married for 50 years.
Eddie had a long career as an engineer for the Milwaukee Railroad. Edward was an avid golfer and served on the country club Board for several years. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge and was a member of the American Legion. Wilma and Eddie were also long-time members of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. They were frequently at the Perry Golf & Country Club for Friday night dining. Wilma and Edward raised four children: Jim, Bob, Nancy, and Ann.
Besides her role as mother and wife, Wilma had a 65+ year career as a tax consultant and legal secretary for Willis & Sackett Law Office. Wilma was very active in the community. She was also a member of the Elks Lodge and was a long-time member of PEO and Beta Sigma Phi. Wilma served on the Perry Parks and Rec Board and volunteered at the Carnegie Library Museum, as well as the Dallas County Hospital Gift Shop. Wilma was a regular at Perry Golf & CC for the weekly bridge game. And, she was an avid bicyclist and went on her daily 7 mile ride until the age of 90!
The Collins’ was honored by family and friends just prior to the tee-off of the Championship Flight’s final 9 holes.
