Kurt and Will Whiton ended the 2025 Men’s League as play-off champions on Sunday August 24th. Sixty four golfers from the Tuesday and Thursday Men’s Leagues began the play-offs on Tuesday. Temperatures matched the heated competition on the course as 5 of the matches in the first 3 rounds ended regulation play in ties, leading to a 3 hole play-off. The final 4 golfers enjoyed a beautiful day for golf on Sunday as temperatures finally cooled down into the 70s. Kevin Wicks and Nick McKnight defeated Don Stracke and Randy McCaulley in the 10:00 match, and the Whiton’s followed by topping Alex Stammer and Kaleb Ackerman. The teams of Wicks/McKnight and the Whiton’s wasted no time as they immediately went to the first tee box to begin the re-match of the 2024 championship round. Team Whiton began play by spotting Wicks and McKnight 11 handicap strokes. It took 8 holes for the Whiton’s to overcome those 11 strokes, going into the final hole tied! Team Whiton ended play by besting Wicks and McKnight by 2 strokes on the final hole, becoming the second father & son team in the last 5 years to claim the Perry Golf & Country Club Men’s League Championship!
